Carmen Barnes, MD*

Dr. Carmen Barnes is a graduate of Brown University and Dartmouth Medical School. She is board certified in Family Medicine and completed her residency training in Santa Fe, New Mexico through the University of New Mexico. Dr. Barnes has a passion for integrative health and preventative medicine and has engaged in health projects both domestic and aborad, including a project in malaria vaccine development in the Peruvian Amazon. Her experience working across borders has gifted her with an appreciation for and understanding of many other cultures, lifestyles and philosophies of health.

Dr. Barnes is experienced in chronic disease management and has spent time working in traditional clinic, urgent care and hospital settings. Dr. Barnes began studying Functional and Anti-Aging medicine in response to the growing disconnect she perceived between the patient and physician in traditional medicine. She is currently a fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dr. Barnes continues to develop her training through studying modules through Functional Medicine University and attending the Institute for Functional Medicine’s Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice course in September 2015. She is an avid salsa dancer, bookworm, culinary geek and aspiring photographer.
